Our story so far.

We have a relentless drive to never settle for a status quo. With this mentality we have turned the world of convenience retail on its head. In a nutshell, we have invented a way to put small convenience shops in places where this was impossible before.

Today you find us in lots of hotel lobbies, which is where we started our journey. But our ambition goes far beyond putting our retail solution in hotels around the world. In time, we want to use our platform to enable anyone, anywhere to start and run a profitable small shop. Sounds great of course but why is this important to us?

We simply believe the world is a better place when physical shops are once again the heart communities. A place where people can buy convenience goods when they need them. A place where local trade can flourish, and social cohesion can be built and fostered. This is our purpose, and we believe it is a destiny worth fighting for.

2017

Jutter Speijs enters the market and opens its first 24/7 smart hotel lobby shop in the Netherlands

2020

Our smart solution goes international for the first time and enters hotels in key cities in Germany

2021

Growth continues as we add more small convenience shops in hotels, now also in Antwerp and Brussels

2021

Jutter Speijs rebrands to Wundermart and with new investors on board growth starts to accelerate

2022

In quick succession countries are opened. Starting with the UK where we enter the greater London area

2022

Our first distribution centre opens in Amsterdam, allowing us to deliver to shops faster and more often

2023

As a result of our succes in other countries, we expand and open Austria and France in the same month

2024

With more than 200 shops in 6 countries, we start to enable more F&B solutions for our hotel customers.

The green dot.

All initiatives that are focused on reducing the impact of our business on the environment are consolidated in our sustainability program the Green Dot.We are continually looking for ways to reduce waste, plastics, and CO2 in and around our shops. Behind the scenes

Who? Georgina Post       What? Visual Designer       When? Started April 2020

As a visual designer I get involved in all projects where we need to bring our Wundermart brand to life. That could be in communications, such as the website or marketing materials. But also internally in our office, shops and Hubs. 

What I love most about Wundermart is the freedom we have to explore new ideas. Our culture is about finding creative ways to get things done where other would just give up. That, as well as working with great team of people from all parts of the globe, is what makes me come to work with a smile on my face.

Who? Wenche Rethans What? Category Manager When? Started April 2019

Category management is about selecting, sourcing and stocking the most ideal products that make up our shop assortment. The great thing about Wundermart is that we have a huge amount of data to help us make smart decisions on what we should include in our range and what not. 

I have been with Wundermart since the early days and it is fantastic to see how far we have come. With every new shop we learn more about how to build the smartest autonomous retail solution in the world.

Who? Laurens Peters What? Commercial Manager When? Started June 2023

At Wundermart the Commercial Team looks after the acquisition of new customers. Basically, this means that I am responsible for introducing new hotel shops to our European network. And because we are organised by region, I specifically look after the Benelux.

In this role I get to travel a lot, which is one thing I really like about working at Wundermart. Every day is different, and I get to meet new people all the time. Of course, opening lots of new shops is also exciting, I can literally see how much we are growing as a company every day.

Proud ambassador for Made Blue.

Clean water should be available to everyone on this planet. Sounds simple but there are still many countries where people have to walk for hours to get water for their family. Water that is often polluted as well, resulting in many diseases and infant mortality. These people cannot work or go to school and therefore can never build a healthy life.

Wundermart is proud to be an ambassador for the Made Blue Foundation. A charity, working on behalf of more than 600 companies in Europe to provide access to clean drinking water and hygiene in developing countries.

By calculating the amount of water needed for producing the drinks we sell and giving that back to the people that need it most, we hope to make a difference. You can read all about the good work that Made Blue does on their website.
